DAF-9 and DAF-12 are required for resistance versus zmp-2 RNAi-mediated toxicity. In nematodes mutant for daf-9 (a) or daf-12 (b) zmp-2 RNAi reduced the thermotolerance to a significant higher extent than in wild-type nematodes. Daf-16 RNAi performed in both mutant strains revealed that the knockdown of the foxo transcription factor is no longer able to prevent the survival reduction as caused by zmp-2 RNAi under subsequent heat stress (c, d).
