Expression of PPARα in macrophage of subjects who carry PPARα-V162 (n = 6) allele compared to L162 homozygotes (n = 6) supplemented EPA, DHA, and mixtures of EPA: DHA. Duplicates of real-time RT-PCR were performed for each sample. Values were normalized with a housekeeping gene, b-actin, as described in “Methods”. Then, treated samples were expressed as percentage of gene expression of control sample and compared between alleles. Statistical analysis was performed using a Student’s t test. Data was not normally distributed; therefore, was transformed in LOG values for statistical analysis.
