Experimental strategy. The experimental design of this study is briefly described. Normal diet (CE-2) was fed to females used for oocyte collection and males used for sperm collection. Recipient mothers consumed the control diet (CD) or experimental diet (PR and FA) for 1 month before embryo transfer. Embryos were generated by fertilizing the eggs with sperm of C57BL/6J (B6) mice. After cesarean-section delivery, neonates were fostered by ICR females that had consumed CD, PR, or FA diets. After weaning, offspring consumed the control diet (CD).
