  1. Caco-2 cells were grown on collagen-coated inserts in 5.5 and 25 mM glucose containing DMEMs for 21 days. TEER value was measured before RNA isolation. Occludin (OCLN) and Zoolin1 (ZO1) mRNA levels were measured by RT-qPCR, and relative fold changes of gene expression levels were analyzed. Statistical significance was determined by Student’s t test. Values are expressed as the mean ± SD; n = 3 independent experiments with three technical replicates
